General Dentistry
Each member of our team believes that regular, general examinations in our Abilene, TX office are the best way of maintaining dental health. While flossing and twice-daily brushings are great foundations for the upkeep of your teeth, a healthy mouth and smile require routine in-office care. Our general dentistry services include comprehensive oral exams, cleanings, and fluoride treatments to keep your smile healthy and bright.
Having your teeth and gums examined regularly is an imperative commitment to maintain the health of your teeth. Regular examinations allow our dentists to recognize and identify any dental problems as early as possible. The earlier Dr. Tim Simpson is able to detect something wrong, the better chance they have of recommending and performing an effective treatment. Regularly scheduled visits can also help to prevent any future dental problems.
At our office, we see serving children as an enjoyable and rewarding part of our practice. Dr. Simpson has extensive experience working with children and is passionate about providing comprehensive dental care for your entire family.
If you would like to schedule a visit to receive general dentistry treatments, cosmetic or restorative procedures, or undergo sedation dentistry, please contact our Abilene, Texas office today.
Periodontal Disease Prevention and Health Maintenance
Periodontics refers to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases that can afflict the tissues that surround and support the teeth, as well as the maintenance of the tissues’ health. As we are committed to helping you achieve and uphold your dental health, we are proud to provide our patients with periodontal disease prevention and health maintenance.
The most ubiquitous periodontal issue is periodontal disease, otherwise known as gum disease. Periodontal disease occurs when the gum tissue becomes infected by plaque and is a major cause of tooth loss in adults. The disease is, for the most part, painless, making it difficult for people with periodontal disease to be aware of its initial development.
Periodontic disease prevention consists mainly of a routine of consistent home dental care coupled with regular visits to the dentist. Receiving a professional cleaning at least twice a year, or even up to three or four times a year, is necessary to keep plaque build-up at bay and maintain gum tissue health. Dr. Tim Simpson will also advise you on what daily at-home measures you can take to prevent periodontal disease.
If you would like to schedule an appointment to start proactive measures to prevent periodontal disease, please contact the office of Dr. Tim Simpson.
Our Comfort Room
Our practice seeks to provide the most comfortable, relaxing dental visit possible. In addition to offering sedation dentistry in our Abilene, Texas office, we’ve also set aside a particularly calming area of the office that we call the “Comfort Room.” The Comfort Room is a separate room in which our teeth whitening procedures are performed in our West Texas office.
We recognize that many patients may feel anxious about any sort of dental procedure. Because your comfort and satisfaction are among our highest priorities, we responded by creating the Comfort Room - an area of our office equipped to give you the ultimate comfort and pampering.
Because the room is set aside for only teeth whitening procedures, the Comfort Room does not contain any traditional dental equipment within its walls, eliminating much of the initial anxiety that rises from the sight of dental tools. The Comfort Room also includes many amenities, starting with your chair. Our Tempur-Pedic® chair affords you a heavenly seat for your procedure, instantly relieving your body of many of the pressures and stresses you may feel. The revolutionary Tempur® material adjusts to your body shape, temperature, and weight to proportionally distribute pressure over the entirety of the surface, alleviating much of your stress and discomfort.
We also offer aromatherapy, which is the use of essential oils from plants and other aromatic compounds to influence physical and psychological well-being. Aromatherapy is used in the Comfort Room to further create a tranquil dental experience for our patients, soothing and calming away stress and anxiety. We also provide diversionary luxuries, such as cable TV, a wide selection of music, and a DVD player hooked up to a crystal-clear flat screen TV.
In addition to the Comfort Room, all of our rooms are equipped with cable TV and wireless headphones. Blankets and Tempur-Pedic® pads are available upon request to aid your comfort in any of our chairs.
Sedation Dentistry
Visiting the dentist without feeling fearful or anxious has undoubtedly been an unreachable goal for many dental patients. Dental anxiety and phobia have hindered many people from seeking out and undergoing treatments to restore, construct, or maintain a dazzling smile. Many patients are afraid of the pain they may feel from undergoing procedures such as root canal therapy.
However, with the introduction of sedation dentistry at our Abilene, Texas office, the fear and anxiety of our patients can be minimized to make for a comfortable, satisfying visit to the dentist. Many of the patients who have visited our office have been able to undergo successful procedures because they found sedation dentistry to be an ideal option. By undergoing sedation dentistry at our office, a patient’s fearful or anxious perception of dentistry can be transformed into an enthusiasm for dental care.
Though there are many methods of sedation, Tim Simpson, DDS prefers to administer a pill to bring about sedation. In the majority of cases, patients are sedated to a point that they do not even remember undergoing a dental treatment. Patients who have undergone sedation dentistry will need someone else to transport them back home.
If you feel that sedation dentistry would be a beneficial option for you, contact our dental office in West Texas to speak to our highly trained staff.
